Rivet sits in between clients, CPAs, and tax engines like CCH and Intuit ProSeries.
Tax preparers (largely) don’t fill tax forms out by hand anymore. They certainly used to, but tools like CCH and Intuit ProSeries made that work obsolete. Instead, tax professionals today are very expensive data wranglers, organizing raw data into CSVs that tax engines can interpret on one end, and shepherding clients through collecting the raw data they need to do their job correctly (oftentimes, harder than the actual prep).
For every return, we create structured tasks for both clients and their tax preparers, guide & inform them with dashboards, and automate the manual data-wrangling. Our software helps and remain as close to invisible as possible for clients. But, when it fails, clients need someone to step in and help.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to provide the human touch to our experience, to act as a point of contact for our clients who expect to (and certainly deserve) to be able to work with a live human when it’s not clear to them what they need to provide so their returns can be prepared. While tax preparers live in this world 24/7 and know exactly where to find K-1s and 1098-Ts and P&Ls and Balance Sheets, most clients are flying blind, without the support they deserve for a premium engagement like ours.
As founding AM, you won’t just build support clients, you will also help define the fundamentals and culture for our AM team for the next decade, and work directly with our engineering team to build our internal tooling in such a way that you can make your job delightful, not tedious.. The right candidate is looking for a mix of early-stage decision making & growth-related firefighting.
